GREENERFRIDAY HOLIDAY GIFT AWARDS 2026
NORTH DAKOTA — THREE CANDIDATES

No winners have been selected. Public voting is separate from editorial evaluation.

Prairie Road Organic Seed — Uncle David’s Dakota Dessert Squash Seeds
Certified organic, open-pollinated seed from a North Dakota seed farm; a practical gift for a recipient who already grows vegetables.
State connection: Prairie Road grows its organic seed on its farm near Fullerton, North Dakota.
Considerations: For an experienced gardener with suitable space and season length. Seeds are consumable and successful growth depends on climate and care; this is not a universal holiday gift.
User evidence: A North Dakota gardening discussion specifically praises Uncle David’s Dakota Dessert squash; independent farm reviews describe repeat squash purchases and seed germination.
Scope: Exact squash variety plus brand-level seed reviews
Limitations: Small independent sample; some reviews concern produce rather than the seed packet.

Rederick — Monarch Butterfly Wildflower Seeds Plantable Art
Recycled paper is turned into plantable art containing a wildflower seed mix.
State connection: Handmade in North Dakota; listed in the state's Pride of Dakota program.
Considerations: Only plant a seed mix suitable for the recipient's region; do not imply it is native everywhere.
User evidence: A plantable-art listing and Etsy presence were located, without independent evidence of buyers using this Monarch product.
Scope: No exact-product demand evidence
Limitations: Germination, seed suitability and novelty appeal remain unverified; do not imply broad popularity.

Willow Creek Wood Shop — Reclaimed Cedar Fence-Post Pepper Grinder
Pepper grinders reuse cedar fence posts sourced in western North Dakota.
State connection: Edgeley, North Dakota maker listed by the state agriculture department's Pride of Dakota program.
Considerations: Made-to-order/enquiry candidate; verify food-contact finish, grinder mechanism, stock and shipping before final selection.
User evidence: Pride of Dakota describes the grinders as a selling favourite, but that directory wording is not independent buyer feedback.
Scope: Maker/directory description
Limitations: No current buyable model, stock or purchaser account located; reserve pending confirmation.
